Mumbai, Feb 7: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday handed over the ashes of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who was cremated with state honours a day earlier, to her family.
Mangeshkar was cremated at the Shivaji park ground here in the presence of Prime Minister Narendar Modi, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Udhav Thackery among others.
Assistant Municipal commissioner Kiran Dighavkar told the media:
“We handed this morning the ‘asthi kalash’ to Adinath, son of Lata’s brother and music composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar.”
