A Rest In Peace: “Piece Of Life For Many”
Berhampur, Jan 30: This is exemplary and restitution. Sushil Sahu of Allapur village of Ganjam district has set an example of organ donation and gives a new lease of life to six persons and the dear ones who are associated with the later ones.
This noble act of the departed soul, Sushil and his family has won over the medical fraternity here. Sushil Sahu of Allapur village in Belaguntha block, was working as a labourer in a private company in Surat of Gujarat.
While working in the factory, Sushil collapsed on January 26 and was rushed to a nearby Hospital in Surat. The doctors diagnosed him to have suffered a stroke due to high blood pressure and declared brain dead. Before coming to Allapur on Saturday, Sushil’s family members were convinced by the hospital authorities for organ donations.
“Donate Life”, a local NGO in Surat which has been working in the field of organ donation for several years, has convinced Sushil’s family for this noble and life beyond life cause.
Anil Sahu(brother of the diseased) said his brother was kept under observation for over 36 hours. When he did not show any sign of recovery, they decided to donate his vital organs.
His brother’s- heart, liver, kidney and corneas were removed and successfully transplanted to six different persons on Friday.
The heart transplantation was done at a hospital in Chennai, while both kidney and liver transplantation was done in Ahmedabad and the corneas were transplanted at a hospital in Surat.
