As expected in last six months the tilt of votes in war-torn Karnataka has taken the course not to condone any politics that rests on touchable and untouchable. Apparently, the Dalit votes in the state have played a big role behind the shock to the BJP and an indirect swipe at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that diatribes always do not fetch the desired results at the end.
Unlike in last few polls, Scheduled Castes form 17.15 percent of the state’s population remained the game-changer roll.
“It would be bit off the mark to say that the faces in the lead like Kharge or Siddaramaiah were the vote catchers but it was an accumulated frustration from the minorities or OBCs those rallied behind the Congress” said Pramod Raghavan, journalist cum poll analyst.
It is clear that the so called Left-Dalit population this time in an ambush taught the incumbents a lesson and swung in favour of the Congress. There comes the question of Left Delits or Madigas who played a bag-piper role and even the touchable Dalits chose for the Congress.
“Dalits too seem to have voted for the Congress this time, apart from the Holeyas or Right-Dalits, who have always had political representation in the Congress. AICC President and Congress leader from Kalaburagi Mallikarjun Kharge himself is a Holeya” Raghavan said.
That pitch forks the Congress stalwart Siddaramaiah and DK Shivkumar as front runners among for the chief minister post.
