VMA: BTS ‘Group Of The Year’, BLACKPINK’s Lisa Creates History
Newark(US), Aug 29: BLACKPINK created history at the MTV VMA’s winning Best K-Pop and Best Metaverse Performance, while super boyband BTS won Best Group Of The Year.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa won Best K-Pop at the 2022 VMA’s for her solo song “Lalisa”.
The other K-Pop bands nominated were BTS for their 2022 “Yet To Come”, Stray Kids with Maniac and Twice for “The Feels”, Itzy for “Loco” and Seventeen for “Hot”.
A video of the awards ceremony showed an overjoyed Lisa hugged by her ecstatic bandmates on receiving the award.
Accepting the award, Lisa gave a shoutout to the members — Jisoo, Jennie, and Rose. She ended the speech with a scream: “I love you!”
Blackpink’s historic win also included the Metaverse performance Of the year, a new category in the 2022 VMA’s. They won it for BLACKPINK The Virtual — PUBG.
BTS won Best Group Of The Year, although they were not attending.
BTS’ Jungkook along with Charlie Puth was also nominated for the song of the summer, besides the group was also nominated for “Permission to Dance” (Best Choreography) and Best Visual Effects along with Coldplay for “My Universe”, among others.
