Veteran Comedian Sarathi Passes Away In Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Aug 1: Tollywood veteran comedian Kadali Jaya Sarathi, popularly known as Sarathi, passed away at a private hospital due to kidney related problems here on Monday. He was 83.
Sarathi acted in more than 372 films in a career that lasted for about six decades. In 1960, legendary actor and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao introduced the popular comedian to the silver screen for the film Seetharama Kalyanam directed by NTR.
He played the role of Nala Kuberudi in that film and after that, he played comedy roles in many movies and got the appreciation of the audience.
Sarathi was active when the Telugu film industry was moved from Madras to Hyderabad.
Founder member of Movie Artistes Association (MAA), he also worked as the founding treasurer of Andhra Pradesh Cineworkers Association.
Telugu film industry expressed its condolences on the death of Sarathi.
