Veteran actor Krishna to be cremated with state honours today

Hyderabad, Nov 16: The last rites of veteran tollywood actor and former MP Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna, known mononymously as Krishna, who died in the early hours of Tuesday, would be performed at Mahaprasthanam in Jubilee Hills here with full ‘state honours’ on Wednesday.

The actor’s mortal remains have been shifted to Padmalaya Studios from his Nanakramguda residence this morning and it will be kept till the afternoon to enable his hundreds of fans to pay their last respects.

Later the body of Krishna will be taken to Mahaprasthanam where the last rites will be held at 4 pm.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to make arrangements for Krishna’s cremation with state honours.

Krishna passed away due to multi-organ failure at Continental Hospitals in Gachibowli at the age of 79.

Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, KCR, TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu Mega star and former Union Minister K Chiranjeevi, Daggubati Venkatesh, Veteran actors Murali Mohan and Mohan Babu, Junior N T Rama Rao, Directors Trivikram Srinivas, K Raghavendra Rao and others paid tributes to the former MP.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will arrive here by a special flight from Vijayawada and he will pay his last respects to Krishna at Padmalaya Studios, which he and his brothers established in 1971.

Popular Actor N Balakrishna, Kota Srinivas Rao and comedian Ali visited Padmalaya studios and paid tributes to Krishna today.

As a mark of respect to the legendary ‘Natasekhara’, the Telugu film industry remained closed on November 16 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and all shootings were cancelled.
