Tharoor Slams Agnihotri For Sunanda Reference
New Delhi, May 10: A war of words erupted between Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri on Tuesday after Tharoor shared a report on Singapore banning Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files”.
In response to a tweet by Tharoor mentioning the ban, Agnihotri tweeted screenshots of some tweets by Tharoor’s late wife Sunanda Pushkar.

In response, Agnihotri tweeted:
1990 में कश्मीरी पंडितों के नरसंहार और पलायन पर आधारित फिल्म पर “The Kashmir Files” सिनेमाघरों में खूब धमाल मचा रही है।@ShashiTharoor @vivekagnihotri#VivekAgnihotri #ShashiTharoor #TheKashmirFiles #TheKashmirFilesBanInSingapore https://t.co/wS0mzi8uoO

In another tweet, he said:
Sunanda Pushkar wanted to talk about the genocide of 1990. But she was asked to shut up. She had to make the decision of being a wife and shutting up so that @ShashiTharoor’s political ambitions were’nt hampered. But she wanted to talk. That’s exactly what #TheKashmirFiles does. https://t.co/oHIOlULZcd

Tharoor slammed him for referring to his late wife. “Dragging my wife Sunanda into this matter was unwarranted and contemptible. No one is more aware of her views than I am. I have accompanied her to the destroyed ruins of her ancestral home in Bomai near Sopore, and joined her in conversations with her Kashmiri neighbours and friends, both Muslim and Hindu,” Tharoor said in a statement he shared on Twitter. “One thing I know, unlike those attempting to exploit her when she is not around to speak for herself: She believed in reconciliation, not hate,” he said.
Sunanda Pushkar was an Indian businesswoman and the wife of Tharoor who was found dead in a room at Delhi’s Leela Place Hotel on January 17, 2014.
