Odisha : Solar powered cold storage set up by women self help group in Coastal kendrapara

Kendrapara : For the first time in Odisha, a Women Self Help Group has set up a 10 MT solar powered cold store at Chandan Nagar GP under Odisha Livelihood Mission of Mission Shakti with an aim to make the rural woman self-reliant .
The Dadhibamanjew Udyog Gosthi ,Chandipur with the financial support from Odisha Livelihood Mission of Mission Shakti department has set up the cold storage with an estimated cost of Rs 23 lakh .
District collector Amrit Ruturaj inaugurated the cold storage.
The cold storage would help thousands of farmers of Keshpur, Chandan Nagar, Charigaon, Sanamanatia and Palasingha GPs.
“The women members of Dadhibamanjew Udyog Gosthi have been entrusted with the responsibility of maintenance of the cold storage set up at the Chandannagar panchayat office premises.
The farmers have to pay 30-40 paisa per kilo to keep their vegetables in the cold storage “, BDO of Kendrapada block Ashwini Kumar Das said.
