“RRR” And “TKF” Set To Dominate Indian Box Office
New Delhi, March 29 : With collections now having reached Rs.500 crore, SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” is turning out to be the biggest Indian film of this year in spite of facing stiff competition from Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files” as it continues to dominate the box office in the South and makes great headway in both the North and international markets receiving highly positive reviews. By Monday alone, Rajamouli’s super-high budget magnum opus dropped in comparison to its earlier earnings in the Telugu belt, but the numbers of its Hindi version appear really promising. As per the current numbers, “RRR” has made Rs 47-50 crores on its first weekday and it has now set the stage for a massive first week well beyond the director’s previous film “Baahubali”.
The 4-day total of RRR now stands at Rs.406 crores (all languages) at the Indian box office and and Rs 132 crores internationally leading to a total Rs.538 crores. “The Kashmir Files” meanwhile has also maintained great momentum, though no longer at the same pace thanks to “RRR”, the movie’s Saturday collections were highly impressive, leading to Rs.8.75 crores which were more than double that of its Friday earnings (4.50 crores). These figures have led to promising earnings on Monday which totalled Rs 3.10 crores. As of now TKF has currently earned more than Rs.231 crores and will reach 240 by the end of the week and a gargantuan Rs.250 crore by its third week. Figures have predicted a slowing down on business for the film due to heavy competition from “RRR”. The box office for Indian films for sometime will now be dominated by these two movies.
