Lucknow, April 27: Shabir Ahluwalia, who has been shining on the small screen for over two decades with his strong acting, says he prefers to work hard on his character rather than being active on social media. Shabir, who was in Lucknow to promote his upcoming serial ‘Pyaar Ka Pahla Naam Radha Mohan’ on Zee, told UNI, “I don’t have any keen interest in social media. I use it when I am free. I don’t understand twitter and Instagram. I understand my work. I am a bit choosy when it comes to the character. I do what I like. If I don’t like the story and the directors do not show me promise in the character then I don’t do the project. Value addition is very important. I work with full dedication. I work according to the project. If I like the story and character then I will start doing it.”
On a question on doing only two Bollywood films in his long career, he said, “I want to do work with leaves and impact. If I don’t get such a role I won’t do it. There is no shortcut in acting, you have to work hard. If you cheat then it will reflect in your character.” Describing two years of corona infection as the most challenging time of his life, Sabir said that during the corona period he understood one thing that there is nothing more important than family and friends.
“Good health is equally important. Make your body so strong through activities like exercise that no virus can harm it,” he said. The 42-year-old actor, who is a father of two kids, said reaching out to the audience is always a challenge. “The story which used to work in the 90s, that track cannot be followed now. If you don’t keep up with the times, no one will ask. You have to do something new with every story. If you don’t do that then the audience will stop watching you,” he said.
‘Pyaar Ka Pahla Naam Radha Mohan’ will premiere on Zee Tv on May 2 and will be telecast from Monday to Saturday. While Shabir is playing the role of Mohan, Niharika Roy is playing opposite him as Radha. UNI
