LOTR: First Images Of Rings Of Power Revealed
New Delhi, Feb 10: Still months away from release, new images for Amazon’s upcoming ‘Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’ have been unveiled. The new images are part of a feature from Vanity Fair sharing new details about the upcoming show. Set during the Second Age of Middle Earth, thousands of years before the events of LOTR and the fall of Sauron, the show will focus on the creation of the rings of power going into mythology, magic and history concerning the forging of the rings.
“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
While there will be no Frodo, Sam, Aragon, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, Pippin, Merry or even Gandalf, there will be some familiar faces. The images provide a first look at Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who’s a lot different than what we’ve become used to in previous trilogies. Thousands of years younger, she is now a warrior who has to go through thick and thin in order to become the legendary version of herself formerly played by Cate Blanchett. Another character who is thousands of years younger compared to last we saw him is Elrond (Robert Aramayo), whose warrior roots will be given a much more deeper look by the series. Aside from their separate shots, we also get a glimpse of Lindon, the magestic elven kingdom. The third elf revealed in the images is Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova), a new character created exclusively for the series.
The archer elf is revealed along with Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi) in the breathtaking settings of the village of Tirharad. Another image is that of dwarven princess Disa, played by Sophia Nomvete, another new character created for the series. She is pictured looking majestic in her royal garments, standing at Khazad-dûm’s entrance. The show is also gearing up to give viewers a better look into the realm of Khazad-dûm better known as Moria or Dwarrowdelf.
The underground Dwarven kingdom through which the Fellowship of the Ring passed by briefly. The Fellowship had an encounter with a Balrog of Morgoth, a demon of the old world who Gandalf (Ian McKellen) fought in his most epic moment in the movie. Gandalf sacrificed himself in order to allow the Fellowship to escape the goblin infested fallen kingdom. With maximum fan hype behind the project, the show will have a total five seasons and will be the most expensive TV show ever produced with the entire series costing over a billion dollars in total. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will premiere on Prime Video on September 2. Envisioned as a multi-season saga, Season 2 will be filmed in the UK. Amazon Studios previously announced that pre-production on Season 2 will begin in early 2022.
