‘I’m Your Man’, ‘Hive’ To Be Screened On Inaugural Day Of IFFK
Thiruvananthapuram, March 17: Maria Schrader’s romantic sci-fi film, I’m Your Man, and Blerta Basholli’s debut film, Hive, take pride in being the films that will illuminate the screens on March 18, the opening day of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2022).
Both the Oscar-nominated German language humanoid love story, I’m Your Man, and the Albanian-Kosovan film, Hive, will be screened in the World Cinema category. The Kosovan entry for the Best International Feature Film, Hive made a highly distinguished debut bagging all the three major awards including the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award and the Directing Award at the World Cinema Dramatic competition of the Sundance Film Festival 2021.
Hive narrates the rousing story of a widow who rebels against the shackles of a male-dominated society and emerges from her shell as a successful entrepreneur. Set in the backdrop of the 1998-99 Kosovan war, the film is based on true events which makes it all the more poignant and striking.
The unique plot of I’m Your Man that documents the travails of Dr Alma Felser who has to live with a robot (a perfect creation of an ideal partner) for three weeks in order to gain a scholarship for her research sets it apart from other typical love stories.
I’m Your Man purports to be the harbinger of realistic post-human love. It has swept some of the most seminal International awards including the Best Director, Best Feature Film, Best Cinematography and several other titles at various acclaimed film festivals and was the German entry to the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
