VSSUT Rusticates Students for Alleged Assault Of Classmate

Bhubaneswar: Two students from the IT and Physics department at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla have been expelled for a year for allegedly assaulting another student in the college hostel.

Additionally, the two students and their two accomplices will have to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 each.

The incident occurred on January 7, when the four students allegedly beat a final-year student over a minor dispute at the Pulaha Hall of Residence.

The victim was critically injured and taken to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla.

The students have been banned from entering VSSUT during their expulsion and will face permanent termination if they violate the order.

After the expulsion, their parents will have to submit an undertaking to the university and the fine will be paid to the Hostel Development Fund. Failure to pay the fine will result in the cancellation of their semester and registration.
