‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ Reveals Its First Stills
Los Angeles, May 2: It has been more than 13 years since James Cameron’s visual effects masterpiece “Avatar” was released in theatres. Having set the record for being one of the highest grossing films of all time, the movie was among the few to break the record of $2 billion mark alongside “Force Awakens”, “Titanic”, “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”, with “Gone with the Wind” adjusted for inflation being the highest grossing movie of all time grossing a record of $ 3.44 billion.
Furthermore, “Avatar” with its aesthetics and visual effects mastery helped in bringing forth another evolution in the world of VFX as the film despite its age continues to stun viewers with its depiction of the blue world of Pandora and its alien creatures, be they beasts, flora or the Na’vi.
After much expectations, producer Jon Landau has gone on to share pictures of “Avatar 2” for the first time at CinemaCon. And at first glance alone with the lighting and the rendering of the textures, one can tell that just like its predecessor, “Avatar: The Way of Water” is going to be a visual effects treat which will be even more refined and offer another grand scale theatrical spectacle into the world of Pandora.
The shots depict various scenes of Pandora, with one showing various Na’vi exploring the water, one highlighting a whale-like creature in the water, one depicting some sort of dramatic scene and more. “Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure,” says the official synopsis.
Returning to the Avatar screen after more than 13 years, the movie will star original members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald, and Sigourney Weaver alongside a roster of new young faces and the more renowned faces of Hollywood which include Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel, Jemaine Clement, and Oona Chaplin.
