Punjab: AAP Sweeps, Broom ‘Cleans’ Political Future Of Stalwarts Including 3 Fmr. CMs
Chandigarh, Mar 10: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) swept Punjab polls after the results and trends of the election started pouring in on Thursday for which the counting of all the 117 assembly segments commenced in the morning.
The most astonishing results were of the major political stalwarts including outgoing Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and two former Chief Ministers Prakash Singh Badal and Captain Amarinder Singh who lost to their rivals.
Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi lost both from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur while SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal lost in Jalalabad. Prakash Singh Badal lost in Lambi at the hands of AAP candidate Gurmeet Singh J Khuddian. From Amritsar East, PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu and senior SAD leader Bikram Majithia lost to AAP’s Jeevan Jot Kaur. Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal also lost the seat to Jagroop Singh Gill of the AAP in Bathinda (Urban).
