Uddhav Thackeray Group Activists Hold Demonstration In Aurangabad

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jul 16: The activists of district unit of the Uddhav Thackeray group of Shiv Sena on Saturday staged a demonstration here to protest against the new Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis-led state government’s move to defer the decision of renaming Aurangabad taken by previous Uddhav Thackeray-led cabinet.

The protesters, led by district president Ambadas Danve and senior leader Chandrakant Khaire, gathered in front of Sambhaji Maharaj’s statue in Hudco locality of the city and held demonstration against the ruling Shinde government amidst sloganeering.

They also threatened to intensify their agitation for the renaming of city.

However, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday presided over a meeting of the state Cabinet, where a decision to rename Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar along with Osmanabad as Dharashiv and Navi Mumbai International airport as D B Patil was taken.
