Varun Questions New VC Of JNU, Calls Her A Mediocre
New Delhi, Feb 8 : BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Tuesday questioned the appointment of Santishree Dhulipuid Pandit as the Vice Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) here, calling her a “mediocre” who will damage the human capital and youth. The London-educated Gandhi pointed out grammatical mistakes in her press release thanking the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education for appointing her as the first woman Vice Chancellor of JNU. “This press release from the new JNU VC is an exhibition of illiteracy, littered with grammatical mistakes (would strive vs will strive; students friendly vs student-friendly; excellences vs excellence).
Such mediocre appointments serve to damage our human capital and our youth’s future,” he tweeted. Pandit succeeds Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, who has been named the Chairperson of the University Grants Commission (UGC). At present, Pandit is a professor in politics and public administration at the Pune-based Savitri Bhai Phule University.
