Odisha Heat Wave: School Timings Revised
Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: In view of the prevailing heat wave conditions in the State, the School and Mass Education Department on Thursday rescheduled the school timings of students up to standard 12.
As per the notification issued by the department, the timings have been revised to mitigate effects of the heat wave situation on students during summer.
As per the decision, students from standard 1 to 8 will have to attend their classes from 6:30 am to 10:30 am. Similarly, classes for standard 9 to 12 will be conducted from 7 am to 11:30 am.
The timings will be in force from April 2, 2022. All educational institutions under the School and Mass Education, government aided and privately managed schools will follow the aforesaid revised timings.
Apart from this, the State government has also decided to allow cooked food under the midday meal program to the eligible students from the month of April.
As per the latest government notification, the school authorities have been directed to make adequate provision for drinking water and students have also been advised to use umbrella during the summer season.
“The date for summer vacation will be notified in subsequent period. Covid-19 protocols will continue to be followed by all educational institutions across the State,” the notification added.
