Sensex Up Over 1,100 Points At Noon Trade
Mumbai, March 9: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday spurted 1,134 points to 54,558.23 till noon trade on the strength of realty, technology, industrial and energy stocks despite weak global cues. The Sensex registered the day’s high and low at 54,558.23 and 53,367.62 points respectively.
The Nifty too edged up 248 points at 16,262.10. It registered the day’s high and low at 16,325.05 and 15,990 points respectively. The Sensex opened at 53,793.99 points. Although the Asian and European markets were seen under pressure, brisk buying in realty, technology and energy stocks boosted the same. In scrips, M & M was a star gainer up by more than 4 per cent yo 729.40 followed by Reliance Industries by 3.76 per cent to Rs 2,320, Bajaj Finserv by 2.81 per cent to Rs 1,486 and Tech Mahindra by 2.72 per cent to Rs 1,502.35. TCS share price jumped over 1 per cent to Rs 3,644 apiece on BSE. The Mid Cap rose by 1.83 per cent and Small Cap by 1.70 per cent. In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 declined.
