Mumbai, Mar 2: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday dropped by 792 points at 55,454.65 in opening session on weak Asian Market. The Nifty too slipped 220 points at 16,573.30. The equity market was seen weak after two sessions rally as selling was seen in telecom, auto, bankex, capital goods and consumer durable stocks.
The Sensex registered days high and low at 55,755.09 and 55,401.11 points respectively. The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,678.50 and 16,547.40 pts respectively. The Mid Cap rose by 0.01 per cent and Small Cap by 0.33 per cent. In 30 scrips, six rose and 24 declined. The losers were ICICI Bank by 3.56 per cent to Rs 716.05, Asian Paints by 3.53 per cent to Rs 3060.50, Kotak Bank by 3.29 per cent to Rs 1782.90, HDFC Bank by 3.24 per cent to Rs 1380.50 and HDFC by 3.12 per cent to Rs 2291.30. The gainers were Tata Steel by 4.40 per cent to Rs 1274.60, M& M by 1.75 per cent to Rs 804.80, Powergrid by 0.48 per cent to Rs 210.20 and Reliance Industries by 0.25 per cent to Rs 2550.95.
