Rupee Gains 18 Paise Against USD

Mumbai, Feb 1: The Rupee remained strong for a third consecutive session on Tuesday as it advanced 18 paise to close at 74.79 against the USD on brisk selling of US dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said.

The local unit that rose by five paise at 74.56 in the opening session gained further by 18 paise to finish at 74.79 as compared to its last close. The Indian currency was seen strong owing to a weak dollar against other world currencies amid robust equity market. The Rupee registered the day’s high and low at 74,56 and 74.74 respectively against the US dollar, the dealers added.
