Hyundai Citroen C3 Aircross Officially Teased Ahead of India Debut on April 27

Citroen has teased the C3 Aircross SUV before it is unveiled to the globe on April 27. The SUV is made and designed for India, but will later be shipped to global markets as well. This will the brand’s fourth launch in the country after the C5 Aircross, C3 and e-C3.

The all-new Citreon SUV will be launched on April 27, 2023 and go on sale in India first and will be released to other markets as a global product later.

Note that the company is already offering an SUV with the same name in many other markets, including Europe for some time now. So, the new made-in-India Citreon C3 Aircross will be a second-gen SUV and could replace the first-gen C3 Aircross globally.

The second-gen C3 Aircross will be around 4.2m long and will have a proper SUV design and not a coupe-SUV-like glasshouse. Going by the spy shots and the teaser revealed today, it’s expected to have Citroen C3-like styling cues inside out, but the C3 Aircross will be a much larger vehicle overall. Design elements such as the split headlight set-up, the grille and wraparound tail-lamps are expected to be similar, among other bits.

On the inside, the C3 Aircross will have some switchgear in common with the smaller C3, but apart from that, we don’t expect anything to be shared. Previous spy shots have shown the dashboard, the infotainment screen position and orientation, the seats and many other elements that seem to be unique on the C3 Aircross.

It is expected to come with both two and three-row layouts. While the interior design and fitments are expected to be similar to that of the C3 hatch. Expect features like a large infotainment display with smartphone integration, digital/semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic aircon, sunroof and others.

While there is no confirmation regarding the powertrain yet, the Citroen C3 Aircross SUV is expected to come with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor which has been used in the C3 hatchback. This motor develops 110bhp and 190Nm of torque in the C3, and is available with a 6-speed manual. An automatic transmission may be added with the Aircross.

The Citroen C3 Aircross will compete in a very hotly contested segment in India. The segment which has the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq means that the Citroen has it’s work cut out.
