Mumbai, April 1: Car maker MG Motor India on Friday reported a 14.59 per cent decline in retail sales of 4721 units in the month of March. This decline is largely attributed to supply chain constraints and semiconductor chip shortage. The company had retailed 5528 unit in the corresponding month last year.
“The carmaker retailed 4721 units in March 2022, immensely impacted by the supply chain constraints due to the new Covid-19 variant and the ongoing global semiconductor chip shortage,” the company said in a statement issued here.
MG Motor India further said that it continues to witness positive momentum in enquiries and bookings across its product portfolio, including Astor, Hector, Gloster, and the all-new ZS EV.
“The carmaker is continuously accessing and aligning its production, subject to the volatility of supply constraints existing worldwide,” it added. The recently launched ZS EV has garnered a strong customer response with over 1500 bookings within just one month, it added.
