Unseasonal Rains With Hailstorm Hits Marathwada Region
Aurangabad, Dec 29: The active cyclones formed in Haryana and surrounding areas have created low pressure conditions in Marathwada region of Maharashtra as well as Vidarbha in the state resulting unseasonal rains with hailstorm lashing parts of Aurangabad, Jalna and Hingoli district causing huge financial losses to the farmers due to damage standing rabbi crops, mangos and horticulture lands, officials said here on Wednesday.
In Aurangabad district, Gangapur, Vaijapur, Paithan, Sillod talukas were hit by hailstorm and unseasonal rains.
Due to this crops of sugarcane, onion and wheat have been damaged in the district.
Reports from Jalna stated that, unseasonal rains with strong winds and hailstorm hit most parts of the district last evening.
Rains in Bhokardan, Jafarabad, Ghansawangi and Badnapur talukas caused severe damage to sorghum and wheat crops. Some parts of Jafrabad taluka, saw hailstones in the shape of sacks.
Rains also lashed Mathpimpalgaon, Dhangarpimpri, Hastapokhari, Shiradhon, Nandi Dhangarpimpalgaon in Ambad taluka of the district.
While reports from Hingoli district stated that, unseasonal rains lashed Kalamanuri, Aundha Nagnath, Digras Karhale and Khudas.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms are expected in some places in Marathwada in the next two days.
Orange alert has been issued in Vidarbha and thunderstorms and hailstorms are also expected in some places there, the report added.
