Air Quality In Delhi Remains In “Severe”Category
New Delhi, Dec 26: The air quality in the national capital on Sunday morning slipped to the ‘severe’ category, as the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 430, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)
On Saturday the air quality had improved slightly from ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ as the AQI index was recorded 398.
The concentrations of PM 2.5 and PM 10 stood at 280 in the `severe` and 437 in the ` severe ` category respectively, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).
Meanwhile, the air quality of neighbouring cities in the NCR region like Noida and Gurugram also slipped in the ‘severe’ and “very poor” category respectively.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, (CPCB) the air quality in Faridabad was at 448, Gurugram at 369, Ghaziabad at 490 and Noida sector 1 at 444.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the city on Sunday morning settled at 9.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather agency has predicted a generally cloudy sky with light rain on Sunday. The relative humidity was 92 per cent at 8.30 am.
