Former Minister Rajendra Tripathi, Others Join BJP
Lucknow, Dec 24: Adding to the ongoing series of changing loyalties ahead of the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, senior Congress leader and former minister Rajendra Tripathi and former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Krishna Pal Singh Rajput, along with leaders of other parties, joined the Bhartiya Janata Party on Friday.
Tripathi and Rajput joined BJP in the presence of party’s former state president and chairman of the joining committee Laxmikant Bajpai and state vice-president Dayashanker Singh.
State media co-incharge Himanshu Dubey said that former IPS officer Gurbachan Lal also joined the party. While Tripathi was Congress MLA from Prayagraj and was Home and Forest Minister in the state government, Rajput was BSP MLA from Babina seat in Jhansi district between 2012 to 2017.
Besides them, senior Rashtriya Lok Dal leader from Bijnor Munidev Sharma, BSP leader from Bulandshahr Veer Singh Prajapati, and daughter-in-law of former MP from Sitapur Ganeshi Lal Chaudhary Savitri Devi, also joined BJP. Welcoming the incumbents, Bajpai said that it will strengthen the party.
