We were not brave enough with bat and ball: Kohli after losing to NZ in T20 WC
Dubai : India Captain Virat Kohli on Sunday was brutal in his comments after losing the second match of Super 12 Group encounter in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup by saying the players were not brave enough with bat and ball.
“We obviously didn’t have much to play with the ball. We were just not brave enough in our body language when we entered the field and New Zealand had better intensity and body language,” he said at the presentation ceremony.
Kohli also said the team has not lived up to the expectations of the people, but failed miserably.
“When you play for India, there are expectations. People come to the stadium with lots of expectations. Players need to embrace that and cope with it. We haven’t done that in these two games, and that’s why we haven’t won,” he said.
Kohli said the team needs to be optimistic and positive and take calculated risks, and play positive cricket.
“We have to be optimistic and positive and take calculated risks. We have to disconnect from the pressure and continue with our process, and play a positive brand of cricket. There is a lot of cricket to play in the tournament,” he said.
