Tokyo Olympics : Wrestler Ravi Dahiya In Final, Assured Of At Least Silver
Tokyo : India’s Ravi Dahiya defeated Nurislam Sanayev of Kazakhstan in the semi-finals of the men’s Freestyle 57kg wrestling and assured the country of at least a silver medal by qualifying for the final. Deepak Punia will face David Taylor of USA in the semi-finals of the men’s Freestyle 86kg category. Indian golfer Aditi Ashok made a terrific start in the women’s individual event at the Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. After round one, she was tied at the second place with US’ Nelly Korda. Earlier in the day, India’s Lovlina Borgohain took home the bronze medal after losing the semi-final bout to top seed Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey via unanimous decision. Lovlina lost the first round 0:5 as all the judges gave the decision in favour of the Turkish boxer. Lovlina was warned and a point was deducted of her total points in the second round. In the third and final round, Lovlina was outboxed by the reigning world champion.
In javelin throw, India’s Neeraj Chopra qualified for the men’s final in his first attempt itself as he went past the automatic qualification mark of 83.50m easily. Chopra registered a throw of 86.65m and topped Group A.
