Sports to get prominence under NEP: Anurag Thakur
Hamirpur : Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur assured the people of the state that sports activities would get prominence under the New Education Policy.
“Sports would get prominence under the new education policy of the central government and all sorts of modern facilities would be provided to the budding sportspersons of India,” the Minister said here on late Sunday.
He appealed to all the stakeholders of the sports to work together for the promotion of sports activities all over India.
Mr Thakur claimed that the performance of the Indian athletes at the Tokyo Olympics was excellent and they were fully rewarded by the central government for their performance. “Sports would be promoted through Khel Maha Kumbh all over India and the budding sportspersons would be chosen from there,” he underlined.
The Minister said that Himachal Pradesh would be developed as a Modern hub of sports and would be known as the land of sports (Khel Bhoomi) on the analogy of the Veer Bhoomi and Dev Bhoomi.
Thakur said that with the provision of adequate land by the state government, more sports activities would be started in the state by providing indoor and outdoor stadiums, gyms, sports fields, and other related activities.
