Will fight against ideology of Modi, Centre bulldozing dissent: Rahul
Srinagar : Accusing the Centre of bulldozing dissent in and outside Parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that his party will continue to fight against the divisive ideology of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also demanded the restoration of full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, besides free and fair Assembly elections as soon as possible.
“I fight against Narendra Modi and I will continue to do that… we will continue to fight against the ideology of Modi that divides the nation… the ideology of violence. I’m not talking about just J&K, but the entire nation,” Mr Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to J&K, said while addressing party workers in Srinagar on Tuesday.
“We are not allowed to speak in Parliament. We are stopped from speaking… We wanted to raise Pegasus, unemployment, Jammu and Kashmir, corruption; but weren’t allowed… They are attacking Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha… they are attacking other institutions, including the judiciary,” he alleged.
“It is an attack on the entire nation. It is an attack on the idea of India. Today government officers and media persons are scared to raise their voices. They are scared that if they talk they will land in trouble,” he further alleged.
The Congress leader said that the central government led by BJP has hurt the sentiments of the people of J&K.
“We tried to solve Kashmir in a different way by love and engagement but BJP has smashed all the good work. We know J&K people are hurt…I want a relationship of love and understanding,” Gandhi said, adding he will stand by the people and will fight to get full statehood for J&K.
