TMC gains sympathy of CPM and BJP after Congress in Tripura
Agartala : The Trinamool Congress has attempted to capitalise on the terror tactics of the ruling BJP in Tripura and large scale dissidence against Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to unite all the parties against BJP in Tripura keeping eyes on the next assembly elections.
Besides Congress, TMC has able to earn the sympathy of opposition CPI-M after BJP cadres unleashed violence on Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishekh Banerjee, its youth leaders Debangshu Bhattacharya, Jaya Datta and Sudip Raha and implicated them on false cases and finally the attack on two female MPs of Trinamool in South Tripura on Independence day.
The former Chief Minister of the state and CPI-M politburo member Manik Sarkar reacted sharply to the incidents and said the ruling BJP has been moving forward with fascist ideology by putting the mask of democracy on its face not only in Tripura across the country, which needs to be prevented unitedly.
He observed that the democratic institutions are being attacked and trying to establish one-party rule by subjugating the rights of oppositions and said, “Arrival of Trinamool Congress leaders in Tripura is nothing new. They have come to the state since the establishment of their party and fought elections. The results did not turn out as expected but were never interrupted but this time ruling party reacted democratically.”
When the party comes to establishing a democratic right in the state, it cannot be prevented in any way and attacking MPs, leaders especially female members are considered as a heinous crime but there was no reaction from the party in power and the government, Sarkar said adding, “It shows the design of terror and attacks are being made in a coordinated manner with the due sanction of the government, otherwise, how do criminals dare to insult female MPs in presence of police.”
Not a single such incident did happen during 25 -yrs of left front rule in Tripura and whenever, any political violence occurred the government took a firm stand against the perpetrators going beyond politics. The police were given free hand to handle the violent situation and nobody was spared but today a new culture of governance comes in the state where the ruling party and government didn’t condemn the attacks on MPs and media people as well, Sarkar stated.
“I am ashamed of being a resident of the state. This is sending a wrong message to the whole country. The Chief Minister has to play an important role in such a situation and he couldn’t avoid his responsibility,” Sarkar told media.
However, he was non-responsive towards the recent call of TMC leaders to CPI-M youths for joining the Trinamool Congress for strengthening the fight to oust the BJP led government.
Trinamool sources claimed that after the departure of Susmita Dev to Trinamool, a large number of congressmen including veteran leaders like Birajit Sinha, Gopal Roy and influential youth congress leader Baptu Chakraborty have taken queues in TMC along with their followers. Similarly, at least six BJP MLAs and a dozen of BJP workers are on the prospective list.
Meanwhile, Trinamool congress young wing chief Saayoni Ghosh who arrived here on Monday alleged that the Tripura government has shut down the power in the start hotel where TMC leaders including five MPs have been lodging from Tuesday morning and the ruling BJP is allowing owners to rent houses for their party office and warehouse in the city.
