Leave Your Security Cover If You Don’t Have Respect For Punjab Police: AAP Slams Sidhu

Chandigarh, Dec 29: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab affairs co-in-charge Raghav Chadha termed the remarks of Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Punjab Police officers as ‘unfortunate and shameful.’
In a press conference here on Wednesday, he condemned PCC chief’s remark and raised the issue of long hours and minimal allowances of Punjab Police personnel. He said that the Channi government, specially Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu is leaving no stone unturned in defaming and insulting the Punjab Police. He said that the statement made by Navjot Sidhu about Punjab Police officers in a public program is so below the belt that it does not even deserve an apology.
Chadha said that AAP strongly condemns this irresponsible and childish statement of Navjot Sidhu and said that PCC chief is anxious and in his fury, Sidhu is humiliating the officers of Punjab Police by making such lousy statements.
He said that the political people of Punjab treat the Punjab Police personnel as an ornamental instrument. He said this statement of Congress President Sidhu is a very ungracious for 70,000 Punjab Police officers. While the morale of the police personnel has dropped due to this statement, the hearts of their family members have also been deeply hurt. The family members of Punjab Police officers are feeling humiliated by this statement. He said that Sidhu’s statement clearly shows that the Punjab Government have no respect for the honest and brave officers of Punjab Police.
The AAP leader told Navjot Sidhu that those are the same officers who are on duty day and night for his safety. He challenged PCC chief that if he thinks so low of the Punjab Police officers, then he should return the security of Punjab Police. He said that if he would walk around without protection for only one day, no one would even salute him.
He asked the Congress government of Punjab to stop political interference in the police administration and let the police administration work independently according to its own accord. He said that if the political pressure on the police in Punjab ends, then drug mafia, transport mafia and cable mafia etc would stop too.
Chadha said that today there is so much political interference in the work of Punjab Police that even the MLAs of Punjab decides against whom the FIR should be filed and where no FIR will be filed. He said that the police personnel who do their duty honestly and with honour are being harassed due to political interference in Punjab.
He said that when the AAP government is formed in Punjab, then Punjab Police personnel will get dignity and they will be given a job of respect. Along with increasing their allowances, other facilities and a consideration will also be given to fixing their working hours. He said that the AAP government will stop political interference in the police administration and create an environment for the police administration to work independently.
Chadha said that the Punjab Congress party seems to be completely disintegrating. Today senior leaders of the party, big ministers etc are leaving the Congress party and going to other parties. The Congress party is on the verge of extinction due to internal conflicts within the Congress Party.
