DVAC conducts raids multiple premises belonging to Ex-AIADMK Minister Thangamani
Chennai, Dec 20: A couple of days after the Directorate of
Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raided multiple locations,
senior AIADMK leader and former Minister P Thangamani’s
premises were searched again on Monday.
A DVAC release said 14 places belonging to the former Electricity
Minister were raided by the officials in his native Namakkal, Salem
and Erode districts.
The raids pertained the corruption case registered against him, his
son Dharanidharan and wife Shanthi.
The searches, being held for the second time in five days, began at
around 0700 hrs, and were continuing in the three districts, including
in ten places in Namakkal, three in Erode and one in Salem.
Today’s raids were a follow up action based on the seizures made on
December 15 during searches in 69 places linked to Mr Thangamani
for allegedly amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 4.85 crore in his name
and in the name of his family members disproportionate to his known
sources of income.
In a statement after the raids on December 15, the DVAC said a total
of Rs 2.37 crore cash, 1.13 kg gold jewellery and 40 kg silver articles
were seized, besides mobile phones, bank locker keys, computer hard
disks and documents.
