Delhi legislative assembly passes resolution to sack Teni, bring MSP law among others
New Delhi, November 26 : The Delhi Legislative Assembly passed a resolution on Friday containing various demands from the Centre including implementation of MSP on crops and sacking of MoS Ajay Kumar Mishra from the Union Cabinet among others.
The resolution was tabled by MLA and Minister in Delhi Cabinet Gopal Rai in a special session called on Friday to mark the anniversary of the farmers agitation, which started on November 26 last year, against the three contentious farm laws.
The resolution was called to implement a law giving the statutory guarantee of MSP for crops, compensation to kin of all the farmers who died during the agitation, withdrawal of cases registered against the farmers and sacking of Union Minister of State (MoS) Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra from the cabinet over Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
“We demand MoS Home Ajay Mishra must be sacked immediately, MSP law be implemented, all false charges against farmers be taken back and compensation provided to next of kin of all farmers who lost their lives in the agitation,” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said during his address.
The minister appreciated the grit and determination of the farmers whose year-long agitation forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi to repeal the farm laws. He also said that the protest by farmers was the largest the country has seen after it got independence from British rule.
Meanwhile, he also said that the repeal of farm laws is a victory for India and its vibrant democracy.
“Farmers braced bone-chilling winter, devastating the second wave of COVID-19, scorching summer and Dengue but nothing deterred their spirit.
Repeal of farm laws is not just a victory of farmers, but for the democracy and the country against the dictatorship of the Modi government. It’s a major blow to the arrogance of the Central Government,” he added.
The CM also recalled the death of over 700 farmers whose “sacrifice” to the farmers struggle finally paid off and stressed that kin of the deceased must receive dignified compensation from the Centre.
Meanwhile, the assembly suspended BJP MLA Jitender Mahajan from its one-day special session and also marshalled out party legislators Anil Bajpai and Mohan Singh Bisht for allegedly disrupting the proceedings of the House.
