Congress appoints BK Hariprasad as co-convenor for committee to celebrate 75 years of independence
New Delhi : Congress on Friday appointed senior party leader BK Hariprasad as the co-convenor of its committee to celebrate 75 years of independence.
Congress on September 1 had constituted a committee to plan and coordinate celebrations of 75 years of India’s independence. The committee is headed by former prime minister Manmohan Singh.
Mukul Wasnik is the convenor for the committee, which also had former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, former defence minister AK Antony, and former union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Congress leaders Ambika Soni, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Pramod Tiwari, M. Ramachandran, KR Ramesh Kumar, and Pradyut Bordoloi are also in the committee.
Government has announced that the 75th year of India’s independence will be celebrated as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, with a series of celebrations to mark the landmark anniversary.
