CBI probing court-monitored post-poll violence in Bengal registered one more FIR

Kolkata : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)

probing the Calcutta high court-monitored post-poll murders, rapes and

other violent cases have registered one more FIR with the Burdwan police

station (West Bengal) in relation to a murder.

The central probe agency has so far registered 38 cases since the

court order on August 19 last.

The latest FIR was filed following an investigation on the complainant (

wife), who alleged on April 18 last that when her husband was returning home,

the accused allegedly surrounded him and beat him brutally.

The victim was admitted into a hospital where his health continued to

deteriorate and hence, he was transferred to other nursing homes at Khojbagan and Borhat.

Later, the victim was brought back home and expired on May 6.

With this, the CBI has so far registered 38 cases and Investigation is

continuing in these cases.

The CBI also has also issued arrest warrant orders against 12

suspects in Abhijit Sarkar murder case at Kankurgachi in Kolkata.

Sources said the central probe agency officials on Sunday last

went to Kankurgachi locality and reportedly served the arrest warrant

notices to the residences of the accused persons.

A separate CBI team also visited the house of the victim

(Abhijit Sarkar) and talked to the surviving relatives during the probe.

Sources said the CBI officials visited several times at the victim’s

place and talked to the surviving relatives, including elder brother

Biswajit Sarkar.

Abhijit Sarkar was found murdered on May 2, hours after the election

results were out. Abhijit Sarkar was active trade union leader of

BJP’s labour wing. He was badly beaten before the killers used a

TV cable to gagged his throat to death, it was alleged.

The CBI also interrogated the concerned police station sub-inspector

in the murder case.
