Bengal min Chatterjee doesn’t come before CBI in I-Core scam probe due to prior by-poll campaigning
Kolkata : West Bengal minister for commerce and industry Partha Chatterjee has informed the CBI that he would not be able to appear before its investigation officials on Monday as he was busy campaigning for the by-poll on September 30.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the I-Core Ponzi scam last week had summoned TMC secretary general and senior West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee to appear before its investigation
officials here on September 13.
The central probing agency has asked the minister to appear at its office at CGO Complex, Salt Lake around 1100 hours on Monday.
The minister has informed the central investigation agency that he was busy in canvassing for the by-poll.
TMC supremo and Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting the Bhawanipur assembly seat by-poll and the situation is a must win for her to remain in the position of chief minister. Ms Banerjee lost at Nandigram to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in the March-April assembly poll.
TMC leader Partha Chatterjee before this latest summon by the CBI, the central probe agency had called him on March 15 last.
But the politician then was busy with the assembly poll campaigning and had skipped from the appearance at that time also.
