Virus brake on Bol Bom Yatra for second year in a row
Bhubaneswar, Jul 13 : Fearing a rise in Covid-19 cases, the Odisha government on Tuesday canceled the Bol Bam or Kaudia yatra. This is the second consecutive year when the yatra has been canceled in the state.
According to a statement issued by Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena, Bol Bam devotees will not be allowed to carry water from any religious place or any other source and walk on any public road to take the water to their local shrine during the Odia month of Sharavan beginning July 23.
During the month of Shravan, many people in Odisha carry water from religious places, walk barefoot for several miles and put the same water in some Lord Shiva temples on each Monday of this month. These people generally are referred to as Bol Bom devotees or kaudias.
