One Nation one Ration programme launched in Odisha
Bhubaneswar : One nation one ration programme was launched in all the districts in
Odisha by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to further strengthen the food security system in the
state.
With the introduction of the system the people from outside the state and the Odia people
residing outside the state can also get the ration of their choice.In Odisha the beneficiaries
can avail their ration in 10,578 fair price shops.
Mr.Patnaik also launched the distribution of vitamin fortified rice in Malkangiri district as a
pilot project.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said everyone has a right to live with dignity
and no one can deprive the poor of this right.
“We have always respected this right through various programmes and our efforts for the
welfare of the poor will continue,” he said.
The vitamin fortified rice will help in providing health security to the poor particularly the
women and girls as it contains Vitamin-B and folic acid, the Chief Minister said .
As many as 93 lakh families and three and half crore people are being benefited by the
Food security programme, the largest welfare programme of the state government and the
food security of the people has been strengthened after the availability of rice at Rs 1 per
kg, Mr.Patnaik said.
In addition to food security, the government has also made arrangements for providing
free education and providing shoes, dress, books and cycles.
The government ,he said, is also providing free medicare in all government hospitals and implementing various income generating schemes.
The Mission Shakti programme has provided income to women and the KALIA scheme
for the farmers has won popularity throughout the country.
The Chief Minister said during Covid pandemic the state government has provided
assistance of Rs 200 crore for farmers, women and workers.
State Minister for Food Supply and Consumer welfare R P Swain, Sports and Youth
Services Minister Tushar Kanti Behera also spoke on the occasion.
