Bhubaneswar : Odisha government has proposed to the centre to establish 50 Scheme
of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) clusters in the state for the promotion of traditional industries.
SFURTI was launched by the Union Ministry of MSME in 2005 with a view to promote cluster development .
MSME Principal Secretary Satyabrata Sahu has submitted the proposal to Union MSME Secretary
B B Swain, Food Processing Secretary Pushpa Subramaniam and banking Secretary D Panda during his recent visit to Delhi.
Mr Sahu suggested the Union government to develop each of the clusters at a cost of Rs 2 to 5 crore.He also requested the Union government to sanction Rs 50 crore each for development of 50 other clusters in industrial areas.
Mr Sahu urged the Union government to set up five more centres like CTTC and a MSME university in Odisha and requested to initiate steps for exporting paddy from Odisha, a surplus paddy producing state, to Asian countries for the benefit of the farmers.
Mr Sahu also pleaded with the central government to initiate steps for value addition of agri products at the block level and develop container facilities at the Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur ports for
smooth transportation of goods.
