Bhubaneswar : With gradual decrease in Covid-19 tally, the Odisha government on Tuesday relaxed restrictions and for the month of September and lifted the weekend shutdown.
Earlier, the government had announced the imposition of a weekend shutdown for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri towns.
With issuance of fresh order, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said that the night curfew in all parts of the state will remain in force from 10 pm to 5 am. The markets will adhere to strict COVID-19 guidelines and will remain open between 5 am and 10 pm.
“However, all types of social, political, and cultural gatherings will continue to remain prohibited during the period. No social, cultural gatherings will be allowed and only 250 people will be allowed in marriages and funeral functions. Cinema halls and auditoriums will now function with full capacity,” the SRC said.
“All puja ceremonies will follow the rules as laid out by the govt in its August 9 guidelines. The state government has empowered police and administration to enforce stricter restrictions as and when required to contain Covid-19 infections,” SRC PK Jena said.
