In an unfortunate incident, At least two persons were killed and three others critically injured in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit at a village in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday.
The victims belong to Ichhapur and adjoining areas. One of the deceased has been identified as Dilu Mohanty, a resident of the same village.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot, doused the flames and rescued the victims.
The injured have been shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital for further treatment and observation.
The firecracker factory is said to be running with a valid licence. However, the administration has not clarified it.
