Wild Elephant Comes In Contact With Live Wire In Boudh Forest, Dies

Boudh: Another tusker died near Guchangi village in Kantamala Range of Odisha’s Boudh district after it came in contact with a high-tension live wire on Thursday.

According to sources, this wild elephant had accidentally touched the 11KV open electric wire passing through the jungle. The tusker died on the spot.

Local villagers found the dead elephant and informed the officials of the forest department. Forest officials rushed to the spot to start an investigation.

Earlier on Tuesday, an ailing male tusker undergoing treatment died at Basiapada beat of Sadar Range. According to Sambalpur DFO, the ailing male tusker got separated from its herd of 16 at Basiapada Nala of Sadar Range and was roaming alone. The male jumbo was around 20 years old.
