Himachal Pilot Killed In MiG-21 Crash

Hamirpur (HP), July 29: Pilot Mohit Rana, who was among two killed when an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-21 crashed in Rajasthan, belonged to Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh.

Wing Commodore Rana was a resident of Sandhol village. Now his entire family lives in Chandigarh. DC Mandi Arindam Choudhary said that the rites will probably be performed in Chandigarh only.

Rana had come to his village 15 days back. His father Ram Prakash retired from the Indian Army as a Colonel. The MiG-21 Bison (trainer aircraft) crashed in Bhimda village of Barmer district on Thursday night. The explosion was so strong that the sound was heard in an area of 8-10 km in the vicinity.
Both the pilots, Wing Commander Rana and Flight Lieutenant Anokhi Bal, were killed. Bal hailed from Jammu.
