Three Burnt To Death & Many Injured In IOC Refinery
Kolkata, Dec 21: At least three people were burnt alive and several sustained burn wounds when a major fire broke out at the IOC refinery at Haldia refinery in East Midnapore, official sources said on Tuesday.
The wounded people, brought to the city through Green Corridor, were admitted to IOCL hospital and Port Trust hospital in Kolkata. An official of the Haldia civic body said three people were burnt to death in the fire, which
happened immediately after a mock drill at the state owned refinery.
Sources said some 20 people received burn wounds in the fire, which may have been caused by a spark from welding.
Dozens of fire fighting vehicles were pressed into service to combat the fire, which was brought under control.
