SC permits time extension for Class 12 results of Odisha, Meghalaya boards
New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Friday allowed to extend the deadline to publish Class 12 results by three state boards–Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and Odisha.
A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari allowed the extension application of these states as there was no objection.
Maharashtra had sought seven days extension beyond July 31. However, it had declared the results on August 3 before Friday’s hearing.
Odisha prayed for two weeks while Meghalaya asked for one week to declare the results.
In its earlier direction, the apex court had directed those states who had cancelled examinations amid pandemic to publish the results by July 31 by asking them to have alternate schemes for assessing students.
The court had made it clear that there can’t be a “fit-all” scheme and each board was autonomous and free to formulate its evaluation method for students.
