PM Modi announces Rs 100 lakh crore Gati Shakti infra boosting plan
New Delhi : In a mega push to infrastructure development in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a Rs 100 lakh crore Gati Shakti Plan.
The national infrastructure master plan, which would be launched in the coming days, would lay the foundation for a holistic infrastructure giving an integrated pathway to the economy, PM Modi said during his Independence Day speech from Red Fort.
He highlighted the rapid pace of work going on in the country for improving both rail and air connectivity.
The Prime Minister announced that in the 75 weeks of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence), 75 Vande Bharat trains will connect the length and breadth of the country.
“The way airport development work is going on and air connectivity is improving today is unprecedented,” the Prime Minister said in his address.
The Gati Shakti infra plan has been unveiled two years after the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) comprising projects worth Rs 111 lakh crore was launched.
In his Independence Day speech in 2019, PM Modi had said that the NIP, scheduled for execution during 2019-25, will create new job opportunities besides improving the living standards.
