PM announces Subramanian Bharati Chair of Tamil studies at BHU, Kashi to mark 100th Punya tithi
Chennai : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today rich tributes
to revolutionary Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi on is 100th Punya Tithi
and announced setting up a Chair of Tamil Studies in his name at the
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Kashi.
In a twitter post, Mr Modi said “On his 100th Punya Tithi, paying homage
to the remarkable Subramania Bharati. We recall his rich scholarship,
multi-faceted contributions to our nation, noble ideals on social justice
and women empowerment”.
Mr Modi also posted a speech he had given on Bharati in December 2020.
In another tweet, the Prime Minister said “India is proud to be home to the
world’s oldest language, Tamil.”
“Today, on the 100th Punya Tithi of Subramania Bharati, honoured to announce
the setting up of the Subramania Bharati Chair of Tamil studies at BHU, Kashi”,
Mr Modi said.
