New Delhi: Notices for taking up discussion on the Nagaland incident were given by MPs in both Houses of Parliament on Monday, a day after reports of 13 civilians being killed in a security operations came to light.
In Lok Sabha, Congress MPs, Manish Tiwari and Manickam Tagore submitted notices to adjourn the business of the House to take up discussion on the issue. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi also submitted a notice for the adjournment of the business of the House over the issue.
In Rajya Sabha, RJD MP Manoj Jha submitted a notice for suspension of business of the House to discuss the incident. Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) chief Conrad K Sangma demanded the repeal the AFSPA, in the wake of the incident in Nagaland.
Sangma, whose party is an ally of the BJP-led NDA, in a tweet said, “AFSPA should be repealed.” On Sunday, the Nagaland government constituted a five-member Special Investigation Team(SIT) to investigate the killing of 13 civilians involving security forces in the Mon district of Nagaland on Saturday.
