New Delhi, Dec 27 : Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar Mahendra Prasad has passed away after a prolonged illness on Monday, according to the party sources.
The sources said the 81-year-old MP breathed his last at Apollo Hospital in the capital.
Due to illness, he did not attend the proceedings of the winter session of Parliament.
He was a well-known social worker and had earned a reputation in the pharmaceutical industry.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the demise of Janata Dal (United) Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Prasad.

In a tweet, the President wrote, “Sad to learn about the passing away of Rajya Sabha MP Dr Mahendra Prasad. He had parliamentary experience of nearly four decades, and was also among pioneers of pharmaceutical industry. My condolences to his family and friends.”
